Well, maybe Paul isn't interested like he used to, to be more specific, he entered just to prove that his way of training pokemon is supposed to be right and to be known as the strongest because of that. When he lost and realized he was wrong, I think that's when he lost interest. But I would love to see him becoming a villain that ash will reconfront along with other stronger villains, that would be a satisfying plot twist for me, and I know that's never gonna happen

pretty sure the champion status means alot. She was probably able to choose her opponents, and don't forget just because we saw Ash speeding through ultra class doesn't mean that Iris couldn't have done it faster, we only saw 2 of her pokemon.

But Iris is a Champion unlike Paul. Hopefully Paul has a training match with Ash and maybe even Iris (We did see a clash between a male Garchomp and a dragonite which can be either Ash's or Iris'). It does seem like Iris beat Flint to get into the masters 8.

i mean still makes sense if it was a season ranking even if iris has already lost to ash and still made up with not losing to anyone else following that.
also her standing as a champion could have gotten her priority on matching queue.

I feel like the rematch with Alan can go 2 ways:
1. Greninja returns and helps Ash
2. The previous episode can be seen as Greninja passing the baton to Lucario and Lucario is going to beat Alan's Charizard in his place
I really hope it's the former.

I highly doubt Lucario would be able to defeat Cahrizard given its type disadvantage and Alain's charizard x being only weak to dragon type
Maybe dragonite and arctovish have to step up to defeat him

If Alain's roster remains the same as before then lucario can half his team.... fighting being strong against tyranitar(4x) Bisharp(4x) Weavile(4x)

The type disadvantage with Alan's Charizard vs Lucario doesn't really matter since Mega Charizard X's Blast Burn somehow beat Ash-Greninja's giant Water Shurikan in their previous match. Ash usually sends out whichever of his Pokemon are having their character development at that time and will likely defeat Alan with either some character development from Lucario or another member of his current team.

Alain is just a league winner so I don´t think ash would be considered as champion plus alola´s league is relatively new and it wasn´t broadcasted like other leagues as far as I know

Even if its a new league its still a major league win in a region thats why Ash is pretty much a celebrity in Alola. I'm actually sad that they didn't mention that tbh.

i think ash counts it the same as those orange islands or whateer they were called, because it wasnt a significant tournament but something that everyone couldve partaken for fun (no requirements like other championships)

maybe, and true as in the game it was only the island challenge participants that got to do it, and in the anime everyone was allowed to enter, so it was practicly a for fun tournament, instread of a regional tournament, though who is to say if that will be the same in the future, the writers could potentially have Ash do a title match himself; would be rather fun to watch not that Ash will really care if he loses.

I dunno about "revealing" Ash as a Champion. They don't announce it, but it is public knowledge, at least in Alola. Though apparently that's the same as public knowledge in the Orange Islands, in that... it doesn't matter too much anywhere else. Not even to Ash, frankly. So if he doesn't insist on being announced as a Champion, I guess no one ever will do so for him.
